About Us

Indian River Community Foundation was founded in 2008 with a mission of building a better community through donor-driven philanthropy. With assets of around $100 million, the Community Foundation and its clients have awarded over $80 million in grants, mostly to local nonprofit organizations.

Our Progress

Despite challenges presented by the pandemic, the Community Foundation’s 2020-2021 fiscal year was another of strong growth, increased financial stability, consistent service to clients and local charities, and meaningful community impact through grantmaking and launch of Indian River Indicators.

It can also be used by community leaders to develop policy, promote promising practices or inspire innovation leading to solutions to persistent community challenges.

Most Community Foundation grants are awarded from charitable giving accounts established and advised by local individuals and families. Thanks to generous contributions from anonymous local philanthropists, Community Foundation is also able to annually award a limited number of competitive grants.

The Community Foundation is led by an engaged board of directors. These active members of the community volunteer time and expertise to ensure our mission is fulfilled. Our staff is comprised of local philanthropy experts providing excellent service to clients, nonprofits, and community partners.
