A Better Medical Center, Philanthropy Must Continue
Last month, the Indian River Medical Center Board of Directors and the Indian River County Hospital District Trustees voted to approve a series of agreements that will result in IRMC joining the Cleveland Clinic Health System. As year end approaches, the Community Foundation’s team has received several calls from clients asking about how this will affect charitable contributions. Over the last decade, Community Foundation clients have distributed more than $1.7 million to the IRMC Foundation from their charitable giving accounts. In doing so, support has been provided for major capital projects like the Scully-Welsh Cancer Center, giving programs like the Eagle Society and general support for such respected programs as the Patient Advocates.
One of the appealing characteristics noted by Cleveland Clinic in acquiring IRMC was the rich history of philanthropy demonstrated by our generous community, which led to a commitment that all funds raised locally will be used solely for local benefit. Indian River Community Foundation encourages our clients to continue supporting our local medical center by giving generously at year end and beyond. Details of the areas of greatest need can be found at www.irhf.org or by viewing the organization’s GuideStar profile on the Community Foundation's online Nonprofit Search. By doing so, you will continue to ensure a bright future for our community’s health and well-being.
