Community Foundation Awards $207,000 to 7 Local Nonprofits
Indian River Community Foundation awarded grants totaling $207,000 to seven nonprofit charitable organizations serving Indian River County. The grants were reviewed by a Grants Committee comprised of volunteers Suzanne Bertman, Pat Brier, Toni Hamner, Wanda Lincoln, Dawn Michael, and Angelia Perry.
The grants were awarded from the Community Enrichment Fund and included the following:
- $50,000 to A Caring Center for Women for the Medical Unit Expansion
- $42,000 to Senior Resource Association for the Meals on Wheels Vehicle
- $30,000 to Ballet Vero Beach for the Stage to Page Program
- $30,000 to Literacy Services for the Adult Literacy Program
- $25,000 to Float Hope for Monthly Swim Lessons
- $20,000 to Helping Hands Program of South County for the After-School Program
- $10,000 to Florida State Parks Foundation for Sea Turtle Nesting Habitat at Sebastian Inlet
While most of the Community Foundation’s grants are awarded by clients through donor advised funds, Indian River Community Foundation’s competitive grant program is made possible through the generosity of anonymous donors to several grantmaking funds, including the Community Enrichment Fund. These valuable resources support the Community Foundation’s mission of building a better community through donor-driven philanthropy.
