Giving
Indian River Community Foundation offers a range charitable funds–each a great giving option for focusing your personal philanthropy.
This personal, powerful giving tool lets you make a gift to the Community Foundation and then stay actively involved in recommending uses for your gift. You can work with our professional program staff to identify and support the issues and organizations you care about most. Grants are made to charities in the name of your fund, or anonymously if you prefer.
With this type of fund you can target your gift to address needs in an important area of community life but build in flexibility to ensure your gift stays relevant through changing times. You identify the focus–whether the arts, aging, at-risk youth, education, the environment, or some other area of interest–and give the Community Foundation discretion to select specific grant recipients.
Choose a designated fund to support the good work of a specific nonprofit organization, such as a senior center, museum or virtually any nonprofit charitable organization. By giving to this organization through the Community Foundation, you provide not only funding, but planned giving capabilities, investment management and the power of endowment.
Choose an unrestricted fund to support the changing needs of the community. Annual distributions from unrestricted funds support the Foundation’s annual grantmaking cycle for nonprofit organizations providing programs or services in Indian River County. Annual distributions can also be used to support other initiatives or projects of the Foundation, as determined by the Board of Directors.
If you would like to name the Community Foundation as a beneficiary in your will or estate plan, we invite you to be part of our legacy society. It’s our way to recognize and thank generous deferred giving donors during their lifetimes and opportunity to design your personal giving plan for the funds that result from your gift. The only requirement is a statement of intent to leave a gift to the Community Foundation. No further documentation, detail on the amount or type of gift is required. You also have the option to remain anonymous if desired.
