Indian River Insights from Vero Beach Magazine

In partnership with Vero Beach Magazine, Indian River Community Foundation’s President and CEO, Jeff Pickering, writes a monthly column called Indian River Insights. These articles explore the root causes of community needs, celebrate successes, analyze meaningful solutions, and offer insights into persistent challenges. In the September 2024 edition of the Vero Beach Magazine, Pickering reflects on a personal experience that reminded him of the vulnerabilities faced by seniors in the community.

"A fall has a way of slowing things down and putting all that into perspective. But at the same time, so does a reflection on what it takes to get up: care and kindness from both loved ones and strangers, medical assistance by skilled caregivers, recovery supports, and rest—I’m sure there is more to be grateful for."

Indian River Insights works in conjunction with Indian River Indicators. Indian River Indicators was launched in June 2021 and originated after the completion of the 2019 Indian River Community Needs Assessment. It provides key data and information about our community that is updated annually and can be used to support and sustain proven programs.
