Indian River Lagoon Health Update from Marine Resources Council
The Indian River Lagoon is an estuary that covers one-third of Florida's East Coast. It supports more species than any other estuary in the United States. Last night, Dr. Leesa Souto, the executive director of the Marine Resource Council, presented information from one of the most comprehensive reports ever conducted on the Indian River Lagoon. The report examined 20 years of available water quality data to develop a baseline of health to guide future restoration efforts and policy moving forward to improve the water quality of the failing IRL system.
