IRCF Awards Habitat for Humanity $40,000

Since 1991, Indian River Habitat for Humanity has served the community by providing affordable homeownership, home repair and home preservation for qualifying families. With a deep sense of compassion and a commitment to service, the organization works hand in hand with their family partners, volunteers, and community stakeholders to create lasting change.

IRCF recently awarded Indian River Habitat for Humanity $40,000 from the Community Enrichment Fund to support their Critical Home Repair Program. Twelve years ago, the organization launched its critical repair program for low to moderate-income families to provide home repairs that are essential to the comfort and accessibility of their homes.

The Critical Home Repair program serves our senior population through its critical repairs and home preservation projects. This program also works in collaboration with other social service organizations to leverage assistance for low-income, elderly families. The Critical Home Repair Program directly addresses the basic human need for adequate shelter. While this program ensures that individuals have safe and healthy homes, it also leads to several additional positive outcomes, particularly for seniors. These outcomes include improvements in food security, health, disability support, and aging in place.
