IRCF Awards LifeBuilders $15,000

LifeBuilders of the Treasure Coast, Inc. works to change lives and build strong communities. The organization seeks to reduce crime, recidivism, and assist low-income individuals who come in contact with Treasure Coast courts as a consequence of criminal behavior or a dependency action.

Recently, Indian River Community Foundation awarded LifeBuilders a grant of $15,000 for their Building Lives, Protecting Communities program. The grant funds will help provide housing assistance to vulnerable individuals and families in Indian River County to prevent eviction or to help them move into safer, more stable housing.

LifeBuilders provides a “hand up” to individuals and families with low income whose lives have been affected by the 19th Judicial Circuit Criminal and Dependency Courts and who are striving to overcome poverty's barriers to success. They help offenders become productive members of the community, restore the circumstances of crime victims, and stabilize and reunify families. The individuals LifeBuilders serves are working hard to better their lives and become self-sufficient. They live from paycheck to paycheck, struggling to make ends meet. Life crises such as job loss, illness, or car repairs can threaten to derail their best efforts. Their assistance empowers clients to continue moving forward on the path to success. This grant is projected to help 15 vulnerable households stay on the path to success when life crises threaten their best efforts to maintain their housing stability.

Indian River Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking is aligned with a vision of a more healthy, prosperous, and generous Indian River County community. Grantmaking priorities are informed by the findings of the most recent community needs assessment and the most current data and information collected on Indian River Indicators. Grants from the Community Enrichment Fund are reviewed by a Grants Committee comprised of volunteers Suzanne Bertman, Pat Brier, Toni Hamner, Dale Jacobs, Wanda Lincoln, Dawn Michael, and Angelia Perry.

IRCF is holding informational sessions for nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations serving Indian River County who are interested in applying for a competitive grant. If interested, please call 772.492.1407 or email Brooke Sauserman to reserve your spot. Please read our Guidelines before registering.
