IRCF Awards LifeBuilders of the Treasure Coast $15,000
LifeBuilders of the Treasure Coast, Inc. works to change lives and build strong communities. The organization seeks to reduce crime, recidivism, and assist low-income individuals who come in contact with Treasure Coast courts as a consequence of criminal behavior or a dependency action.
Recently, Indian River Community Foundation awarded LifeBuilders a grant of $15,000 for their Building Lives, Protecting Communities program. The grant funds will help provide housing assistance to vulnerable individuals and families in Indian River County to prevent eviction or to help them move into safer, more stable housing.
This grant is projected to help 30 vulnerable families maintain their housing stability. The 156 Indian River County households they served in last year included 172 children, many in households headed by single mothers. These grant funds are crucial to helping hard working individuals and families weather the current affordable housing crisis and increasing rents. Because of this housing crisis, LifeBuilder's housing assistance disbursements for January through June 2022 tripled compared to the same period in 2021 in Indian River County.
“Thank you so much for helping me with rent. Your prompt response helped me from being homeless. LifeBuilders is awesome. You turned a stressful situation into a blessing!” -LifeBuilder's client
