IRCF Awards Safe Families for Children $25,000
Safe Families for Children (SFFC) was founded in 2003 to host vulnerable children and create extended family-like support for struggling, isolated families through a community of devoted volunteers to keep children safe and families together. Indian River Community Foundation recently awarded Safe Families for Children $25,000 from the Community Enrichment Fund to support the Protective Factors Program.

SFFC has three primary outcomes: 1) prevent child abuse and neglect for families in crisis while the parents seek to restore stability in their lives, 2) support and stabilize families in crisis through relationship and resource connections, and 3) deflect children from entering the child welfare system. Their Protective Factors Program matches vetted volunteers with families to offer physical and emotional support to reduce stress, increase positive care for children, and build family resiliency through focused attention to the nationally recognized, evidence-based Circle of Support framework. Every family receives individualized help designed to prevent crises from escalating to child welfare involvement while keeping children safely at home.
Indian River Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking is aligned with a vision of a more healthy, prosperous, and generous Indian River County community. Grantmaking priorities are informed by the findings of the most recent community needs assessment and the most current data and information collected on Indian River Indicators.
IRCF is holding informational sessions for nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations serving Indian River County who are interested in applying for a competitive grant. If interested, please call 772.492.1407 or email Brooke Sauserman to reserve your spot. Please read our Guidelines before registering.
