IRCF Awards Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic $35,000
Founded in 1953, Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic strives to be the choice of adults and children who require high level therapeutic services by caring and qualified professionals regardless of the ability to pay. Indian River Community Foundation recently awarded Sunshine Physical Therapy $35,000 to help replace the flooring.
The Sunshine Physical Therapy Clinic opened in a small house donated by W.C. Graves in 1953. Since that time, the original structure has been expanded twice, each time with various interior and exterior upgrades. The flooring was installed at various stages of expansion, some being as old as 50+ years. The last partial flooring upgrade was over 10 years ago, when new carpeting was installed in the adult gym and some treatment spaces.
The interior renovation of the 70+ year-old Sunshine facility will allow for a reconfiguration of existing equipment and will open up new spaces for additional therapy uses. Additionally, new spaces within the facility will be upgraded as Sunshine expands their services and therapy staff.

Indian River Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking is aligned with a vision of a more healthy, prosperous, and generous Indian River County community. Grantmaking priorities are informed by the findings of the most recent community needs assessment and the most current data and information collected on Indian River Indicators. Grants from the Community Enrichment fund are reviewed by a Grants Committee comprised of volunteers Suzanne Bertman, Pat Brier, Toni Hamner, Dale Jacobs, Wanda Lincoln, Dawn Michael, and Angelia Perry.
