IRCF Awards Tykes & Teens $30,000
Established in 1996, Tykes &Teens strives to be the trusted provider of compassionate and exceptional behavioral health care through prevention and treatment services for children from infancy through young adulthood. Indian River Community Foundation recently awarded Tykes & Teens $30,000 to support the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program which supports positive outcomes for children, particularly those impacted by trauma and poverty.

Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (ECMHC) is a proactive, evidence-based approach that enhances teacher practices, strengthens adult-child relationships, and supports teacher well-being. By embedding mental health consultants in Indian River County childcare centers, they equip educators with tools and guidance to create emotionally supportive classrooms. Consultants help teachers recognize and respond to children’s emotional cues, understand the impact of trauma, and build strong, trusting relationships—key protective factors for healthy brain development and emotional regulation. This program fills a critical gap in early childhood mental health services, ensuring that vulnerable children receive the support they need to thrive.
Indian River Community Foundation’s discretionary grantmaking is aligned with a vision of a more healthy, prosperous, and generous Indian River County community. Grantmaking priorities are informed by the findings of the most recent community needs assessment and the most current data and information collected on Indian River Indicators.
