Laura Riding Jackson Foundation: COVID-19 Update and Poetry Competition Announcement

Laura Riding Jackson Foundation's
Executive Director, Louise Kennedy
Addresses Foundation Supporters

The mission of the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation (LRJF) is to bring people together through writing and honoring the past and inspiring the future through the written word for all ages in our community.

LRJF's biggest fundraiser, the annual poetry competition and barbecue, was cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, LRJF will hold a COVID-19 Poetry Competition for residents to share their experience of the current health crisis. A generous individual has donated $1,000 to fund the prizes for the winners of the competition.

Additionally, LRJF is holding a K-12 COVID-19 Writing Competition for students to share their experiences during quarantine. Three students from each level (elementary, middle, and high) will win a $25 gift card and a chance to be published through the organization.

Indian River County Residents are invited to submit their poems by June 1, 2020 for a chance to win up to $500 in prizes. Please visit the Laura Riding Jackson Foundation COVID-19 Poetry Competition page for more information on how to submit your poem.
