Philanthropy Field Trip: United Against Poverty
Indian River Community Foundation invites you to join us on a philanthropy field trip to visit United Against Poverty to learn about plans for the new UP Center. The philanthropy field trip is scheduled for Wednesday March 28, 2018 at 10:30am and will last approximately 60 minutes. Community Foundation clients who attend will learn about the organization’s unique “Hand Up” model for helping our neighbors in need, and how the new Up Center will expand the organization’s reach to those in our community who need help to achieve economic self-sufficiency.
According to the United Way of Indian River County’s ALICE Report, 40 percent of the community’s households do not have the income needed for a bare-minimum survival budget. Programs like those operated by United Against Poverty have been successful in helping these asset-limited, income-constrained and employed households to break the cycle of poverty. The new Up Center will increase United Against Poverty’s impact and make life better for hundreds of our neighbors in need.
