Weekly Insights: Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center
In 2021 Indian River County's high school graduation rate reached 95 percent, improving more than 15 percent since 2015. This is one of the highest graduation rates in Florida. The increasing graduation rate demonstrates a strong dedication from our community to help our students achieve success. One example of this commitment is the Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center.
Founded in 2021, Dasie Hope is an after-school program serving approximately 125 children living in the Wabasso area from kindergarten through high school. The Center offers homework assistance, individual tutoring, computer skills, creative arts, various programs, and supervised outdoor sports in a "clubhouse" environment.
The primary goal of the Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center is to empower the students it serves to be self-confident, responsible and well-rounded individuals in a safe and nurturing environment. It is the vision of the Dasie Bridgewater Hope Center to remove barriers so the children can concentrate on learning and achieving their full potential by providing programming that reinforces classroom curriculum as well as encourages creative and critical thinking.
Weekly Insights works in conjunction with Indian River Indicators. Indian River Indicators was launched in June 2021 and originated after the completion of the 2019 Indian River Community Needs Assessment. It provides key data and information about our community that is updated annually and can be used to support and sustain proven programs. It can also be used by community leaders to develop policy, promote promising practices and inspire innovation that can lead to solutions to persistent community challenges. Indian River Community Foundation holds informational sessions on the first Tuesday of every month at 4pm via Zoom to introduce the community to this new resource. Please email Director of Philanthropy, Chiaka Nwosu at chiaka@ircommunityfoundation.org to attend a session.
