Weekly Insights: Treasure Coast Girls Coalition
Treasure Coast Girls Coalition (TCGC) educates, elevates, and empowers girls to be the best they can be. At TCGC, the programs and activities are designed to be a catalyst that helps girls and young women reach their goals and fulfill their potential.
Treasure Coast Girls Coalition works with girls ages 9-18 who are from economically challenged and fragile communities that attend Title I schools and live at or below the 200% poverty threshold. The Florida Department of Education determined that nearly 53% of students in Indian River County are economically disadvantaged. TCGC helps break the cycle of poverty by providing girls with support and opening doors to new possibilities. The organization nurtures future leaders and creates pathways to inclusive success. TCGC is dedicated to empowering them with skills in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math), digital literacy, and emotional intelligence.
Weekly Insights works in conjunction with Indian River Indicators. Indian River Indicators was launched in June 2021 and originated after the completion of the 2019 Indian River Community Needs Assessment. It provides key data and information about our community that is updated annually and can be used to support and sustain proven programs. It can also be used by community leaders to develop policy, promote promising practices and inspire innovation that can lead to solutions to persistent community challenges.
