Community Foundation 2023 Annual Report
Last year, charitable giving in the US was down by almost 10% compared to the prior year. Indian River Community Foundation fared better, although contributions by clients to their charitable giving accounts remained flat largely due to downward market pressure on the most common type of donation we receive – stocks and other marketable securities. As for grantmaking, however, the year tells a much different story with a record amount and number of grants distributed from client donor advised funds and other endowed accounts. Education, health, and human services received the largest percentage of grant dollars, with most of these distributed to Indian River County charities.
As for other trends, the Community Foundation continued to invest in data, information, and other resources to support more informed and effective local giving and civic engagement. We are proud of the reputation we have built as a trusted philanthropic advisor and an honest broker of charitable investments in the health and prosperity of our community.
Thank you for taking time to learn about our continued progress toward achieving our mission of “building a better community through donor driven philanthropy.”
